mom and dad

but life’s choices

do your arms
feel empty
because
my body
feels bare
sometimes
words
flow
like
the
tears
they’re
written by
most of the time
if I think things through
I’d never follow through
that’s why I go
one step at a time
I understand
walking by faith
not by sight
more than you will ever
know
no matter what’s ahead
no matter what I’ll go through
I now have someone
to go through it with
and that makes a difference
to be held while crying
to be heard while talking
to be seen while living
to be known and loved
I don’t know how many “lasts”
there are
will this be the “last”
super bowl with my kids
will it be the “last”
Valentine’s Day
will every special day
till May
be a “last”
things I don’t want to think about
but will
because it’s important
to treat every day as a “last”
and make the most of it
