“Hidden Wide Open”

the voice of my tears
ready to fight
wanting to cower
one after another
rolling down my cheeks
making a mess on my face

no one knows
others have left
just me

been there
done that
reminded again

I’m stronger than I think
but sometimes think past my strength
and become weakened

more tears

I wish I could hide this poem
but my heart won’t let me
I wish I could run to Texas
but my place is here and now

to prepare for the convention
and BE love for every encounter

“Friends”

they’re everywhere
yet
hard to find

with social media
one can see
when being left out

people choose who they want
to spend time with
to invite

they forget
but will miss
they smile
without an ear

looking forward
to being one
with my best friend
in Texas

“Background Music”

right now
I share a room with
my kids
so as I read
my bible
I hear their breathing
of deep sleep

I’ll miss that
different rooms
different state
different normals

but my excitement
overrides
the missing

I’m so excited
to be in this
new chapter

this new book

pages lined with
love
adventure
discovery

will people miss
the struggling
the loneliness
the barely-making-it
words

there’s no telling

some like to read about
pain
some like to read about
love
some
don’t see a difference

every day
is only the beginning
of what you make of it
