“A New Normal”

everyone has a different “normal”
what they’re raised in
what they’re used to
and I wonder
how much that “normal”
hangs on

if a child is raised around screaming all the time
will that child become an adult who screams?

if a child hears a lot of cussing
will it become part of their vocabulary?

it could
but it also doesn’t have to be

I believe parents
teachers
coaches
and the like
who are creating an environment for children
should carry themselves well

regardless of their past

growing up
involves learning the difference
between right and wrong
and choosing right
but then it comes back to “normals”
maybe wrong IS right

I used to cuss all the time
scream at my kids
slam doors through the frame
my kids’ “normal”
but I changed
I hope others change too

all it takes is for one to change
to make lifetimes of different

Recently, Nathan joined a tackle football team. It was all brand new to him: the coaches; the tackling; the kids…everything, but before he even picked the team, he had an issue. Continue reading

“Silence”

there’s a quiet place of the heart
unseen by man
but known by God

where requests are never made
but desires are known
and answered

where a thought becomes a prayer
because it came from the heart

when His Spirit lives in you
there’s always communion

know it
seek it
learn it
live it
