how far does the apple
really fall from the tree
and how much of a child
is a reflection of parenting Continue reading

“PAINting a Picture”
I don’t always know
what pours out of me
until it pours out
sometimes
the pain is a memory
sometimes
it’s what I’m going through
sometimes
it’s of someone else
sometimes
there’s no pain at all
but every time
what pours out
helps one
if not more
so whatever pain I’m remembering
or experiencing
or relating to
could be for someone else
but most of the time
it’s just for
me
“The Weight of Emptiness”
I remember being encouraged
to abort
how a baby wouldn’t fit in
to my life Continue reading
“Unwrapped”
careers aren’t mentioned
in the bible
but children are
they’re gifts
from God
“Communication”
pain is only powerful
if kept inside Continue reading
“Prayer Bucket”
there’re just some things
that hurt my heart
are out of my
control
those moments when
prayers said
seem so
small
and prayers answered
are huge
words
poured out like rain
held inside
every tear
so many struggling
if only I could
help them all
if only I could
support them
it’s hard to keep going
when all seems lost
it’s hard to find value
when you don’t know your worth
this poem in code
could be for many
God help
them all
“In the Corner”
when a child’s in time-out
they sit or stand
and wait
to play
to talk
to move
just thinking
about what’s next
not what they’ve done
right now
my life feels
timed-out

“BE the Change”
sometimes
the atmosphere changes
instantly
sometimes
you have to return
again and again
releasing
what you have
inside
until
those around you
change
from
breathing in
the atmosphere
“God’s View”
no matter what I’ve done
You’ve watched me
waiting
to share Your Love with me
waiting for me
to share my love with You
such a Gentleman
such a Savior
such a Valentine
