“The Weight of Emptiness”

I remember being encouraged
to abort
how a baby wouldn’t fit in
to my life
the fathers
not on board
so the child’s
extinguished
like a flame
and when I think back
the power of
those words
of “encouragement”
left me
without strength

loving without holding
holding without thinking
thinking without knowing
emptiness

a feeling only those
who’ve aborted
know
a feeling not easily
forgotten
a feeling the man
may never
think of
a feeling left
inside

but somehow
some way
Jesus heals
that feeling
He makes one whole
He makes one complete
He makes one strong
to move on in Him
and not move on
in emptiness
