Laura’s Lanes

The other day, I was coming from Santee and knew the freeways were jammed, so I decided to take the streets, and, in doing so, passed by some memory lanes.

You know, some people suggest to never visit your past, but I tell you what: I’ve found victory in it.

As I was going down a road in El Cajon, I drove by a storage place. My friend and her boyfriend used to live in one of the spaces. I remembered it well: it’s where we used drugs, bought drugs, etc. That was back in my dancing days.

This is where people may say, “That’s not you. You’re a new creation. Don’t even mention it!” I disagree. Continue reading

Words that Pierce

IMG_1006

Have you ever been attacked by words? If you’re alive, your answer’s probably yes.

Before my retreat, I was attacked harshly by two different people, both “Christians”…both “speaking their truth in love,” but this isn’t a post about bashing them. It’s about continuing to move forward in spite of them.

If you’re new or old to my blog, you’ve probably noticed how I love God and how I live through His Heart. In doing so, I’ve realized all the dreams I have and how they’ll become reality in due time. One of these dreams is to write about whatever God puts on my heart and/or mind, and that’s what I’m currently doing, but it’s more than that. Continue reading

“Someday”

looking back
at being loved
seeing that
I was never loved
the right way
through His heart
in His glory
as His bride
still waiting
to be loved right
through God’s heart

“Behind the Vail”

my view is of the clouds
not above me
but all around me
I love the clouds
love being IN them
I feel God
letting me see
His closeness
all around me
so much is conquered
in His Presence
which always fills me
always surrounds me
but with distractions
email
texts
Facebook
Instagram
notifications
can cause the closeness
to slip away
if you let it
I see why God
took Moses up the mountain
away from everyone
everything
and spoke with him
in a cloud

“My Dreams”

the violin
speaking
traveling
photography
auto mechanics
crocheting
dancing down the aisle
gardening
canning
painting
singing
producing
publishing
composing

having someone to talk to
about anything
my past, present, or future

Bye for Now

I’m going on a retreat tomorrow but am going to start withdrawing now, so I won’t be writing for a few days.

Let me tell you about my retreat. I’m so excited!!

I’m going to a retreat center on Palomar Mountain. Normally, people go there in groups of hundreds. I like to go alone.

In the past, I’ve gone to another center, but this will be my first time at this one. Because I’m a leader, I get the “pastor’s special,”…all meals included. I won’t be taking anything electronic with me. My car’s been acting up, so I’ll take my phone, but hopefully, I won’t turn it on.

I’m excited: me, God, bibles, paper, pens, thoughts, imagination, conversation…

all alone…

all one with God.
