More Than a Message

In AA, you share your experience, strength, and hope. Well, while I was in San Diego, celebrating my sobriety at a meeting, a woman came empty and left complete. Here’s what happened:

Yesterday morning (10/7), my friend, Jimbo, gave me my 11 year token, and as I was sharing, I talked about life, Jesus, and freedom from depression, and after I sat down, a woman approached me and asked if I’d pray for her after the meeting, so I did.

As we were talking, she said she wanted to know about my God, so I told her about Jesus, and guess what? Now, she KNOWS my God: she entered in to the heart of Jesus!!

You know, everyone has their own choice in which path to walk on, so I’m glad there’s freedom to share about what we believe, just in case anyone else’d like to follow.

“Heaven”

a place where time
doesn’t exist
a place where it’s never
the last moment
a place that listens
plans and
releases

strength
hope
and love

having the power
to send darkness to hell
having the faith
to walk in victory
having the courage
to stand tall
and believe

in freedom
in joy
in love

so many choices
to make every day
so many moments
to be love

for God
for yourself
for others

torment may last
for a moment
but joy and peace
are forever more

“Yesteryear”

a year that held
so much for me
so much to remember
and grow from

it was the year
of many beginnings
and some endings
a year of growth
and struggling

of writing my first poem
and then four hundred more
of writing thirty songs
some to music
of starting a business
walking away from a job

spending more time with
my kids
the ones who matter most

spending time with the youth
with the homeless
with good friends

so much to hold onto
so much to let go of

and all of it experienced
through God’s heart

The Morning After

If you asked me, I’d say we had a lot of fun on Halloween, and when I say “we,” I mean me, Carolyn, Nathan, and then some.

The kids keep wanting “game nights,” so I keep creating time to have them, so on Friday, a few of Carolyn’s friends came over to hang out, and a couple of them ended up staying all weekend. Continue reading →
