friends aren’t there
to
solve all your problems
they’re there
to make you laugh
as
you work through them
laughter
Sticking Together
In life, there’re many types of glue: people; laughter; friends…and over the past month, Katie and I’ve learned a lot about the friendship one.
Since we’ve been in Texas, it’s been rough for a few reasons, but none of them are as important as what we’ve discovered along the way. Continue reading
“In Sight Full”
in heaven
I bet there won’t be mirrors
because we’ll be see thru
so why not start here
in sight
is my body
full figured
hanging skin
wrinkles forming
resemblance
outta sight
is my soul
good parts and
bad
renewed and
old
which leaves
my spirit
Free to move
Free to laugh
Free to be love
and soar
I’m not sure
what makes it to heaven
the only thing dying
will be the outside
leaving the goodness of my soul
and spirit
to see through
bringing heaven on earth
through transparency
writing out bad
to get to the good
so the enemy of mirrors
won’t haunt me
and because of the effect
it has here on earth
I KNOW there’ll be laughter
in heaven
Cold Front
Lately, I’ve experienced a lot of change, but the other night, someone else did, and it wasn’t good.
Since Scott’s picked us up from San Diego and brought us to Texas, there’s been barely any laughter, mainly because he’s been a totally different person than the man I married (and not in a good way). The oppression was intense, but I, finally, made it through it with the help of God, my AA friends, and laughter. Continue reading
Not ALL Bad
Since it’s been “difficult” here, I’m going to point out things I like.
I love hearing the birds talk…sometimes fifty at a time.
I love watching the trees blow through the window.
I love my yellow room.
I love sitting at our dining room table, eating dinner, playing games.
I love, when I’m first to wake up, sitting in the living room in silence.
I love sitting in that same silence in my bedroom.
I love dancing at church.
I love the breeze at the ocean; it sort of blows the humidity away.
And in the moments it happens, I love watching the kids have fun.
I love my talks with Katie.
I love the times when Scott and I laugh.
I love watching the kids grow.
I love cooking with my girls.
I love creating.
Anyway, those are some of the things I love. I’m sure I’m missing some, and I’m sure some are an exaggeration, but it’s good to focus on the beauty that’s all around me.
What’s beautiful to you?
Comment, if you’d like!
Holding Back Means Holding In
[This one was written on Monday, July 24th. Pictures’re at the end.]
Yesterday at church, as I danced with God, amazing things went on inside of me that’ll I try to capture with words. Continue reading
Community Breaks Down Walls
[Written on July 22nd. Normally, I’m better at keeping up with my website, but the day before I wrote this (so Thursday, 7/21/16), we “finally” got a dining room table, so Friday, Saturday, and Sunday were late-night game nights, and the lack of sleep threw me off, so today, I’m catching up with you (or allowing you to catch up with me).]
Walls…they’re good for supporting a home, protecting, and dividing, but they’re also good for separating. Continue reading
“Heaven’s Menu”
[written 7/10/16]
there’s something about laughter
that brings the enemy down
I picture laughter
sounding like
nails on a chalkboard
to the enemy
when we got to Texas
depression was heavy
lingering above us
dripping in our minds
one by one
we were silent
consumed with the sound
of the drip
one by one
we pulled out of it
and turned off
the spout
except Nathan
he’s been so sad
through it all
until last night
waiting at Denny’s for food
but being fed by Heaven
all it took
was one incident
and we were rolling!
