Today, I’m not really sure how writing’ll work out. It’s one of those times when I’m afraid of what I’m going to write about, so without thinking, here I go. Continue reading

What a Parent Should Be
role model: a person looked to by others as an example to be imitated.
Sad but True
It’s possible to be married yet still be a single parent.
“Heaven’s Menu”
[written 7/10/16]
there’s something about laughter
that brings the enemy down
I picture laughter
sounding like
nails on a chalkboard
to the enemy
when we got to Texas
depression was heavy
lingering above us
dripping in our minds
one by one
we were silent
consumed with the sound
of the drip
one by one
we pulled out of it
and turned off
the spout
except Nathan
he’s been so sad
through it all
until last night
waiting at Denny’s for food
but being fed by Heaven
all it took
was one incident
and we were rolling!

“Rhetorical”
what is ‘being a good parent’?
does it mean
your kids aren’t having sex
does it mean
they never say bad words
does it mean
they never quit at what they do
does it mean
they go to church every week
and read the bible
does it mean
they put others down
who aren’t measuring up
maybe ‘being a good parent’
has nothing to do
with what your kids choose to do
maybe ‘being a good parent’
means you love your kids WELL
through God’s heart
no matter what they do

Recently, Nathan joined a tackle football team. It was all brand new to him: the coaches; the tackling; the kids…everything, but before he even picked the team, he had an issue. Continue reading
“No Age Limit”
wouldn’t you think
EVERY child would want
to love their mother
to honor and respect
the one who loves them so Continue reading
“Seeds”
how far does the apple
really fall from the tree

“Passing the Buck”
choosing between
mom and dad
it’s not in the bible
but life’s choices
writes stuff in
Kyle says
don’t give them a choice
then they might hate themselves
for making the wrong one
it’s better for them to hate you
for making it for them
getting over hating others
will happen
over time
but
hating one’s self
can be permanent
