Recently, I’ve received a lot of worship flag orders, so in my time away from work, there’s a lot for me to do. Yesterday would’ve been a good day to finish some. Little did I know…my son, Kyle, had most of my day planned out, and it was time well spent.
First off, I was amazed at watching him coach the flag football game yesterday. He’s not the type of coach who yells at you to get the job done right. He’s the type of coach that loves football and loves to see the game played well, so I watched him support, encourage, teach, and guide the boys into an incredible victory. I kid you not: they won in the very last plays. We were all in awe.
While on the field, he really explains each play to the kids. I was going to post a picture of the play, but he said, “Mom, you can’t post that. I’m going to win a Super Bowl some day with that play.” And he will. (You are ALL welcome to come out and watch these kids and Kyle in action some Saturday.)

Right after the game, he told me he wanted me to take him to the car lot. Last weekend, he was approved for a loan from the bank to purchase a car, so yesterday was the day he was determined to buy one, and he wanted ME with him. Not only did he “want” me, but he valued my opinion and asked me what I thought of the cars he test drove. He kept asking me questions. He knows I don’t know much about cars, but he trusts my opinion on things…amazing!
While he was test driving, I was talking about walking-with-God. He said, “I still walk with God. I just don’t go to church. I loved going when Grammy would take us. While teaching us things, she used to engage with us. Now, it’s just sitting there while a man speaks to you. I still have Jesus in my heart.” What an amazing man he is!
During the few hours we were together, we joked, laughed, talked…he even asked me to pray. I value my time with him: in the house, rides to and from work, etc. As he was buying the car, he said, “I still want rides to and from work, so I don’t have to pay for parking.” I believe there’s more to that. When we’re in the car, I always tell him about my daily God stories. To him, I bet that’s engaging with him the bible in action. He’s learning, growing, becoming love. All of these moments are pondered in my heart, and I am so glad to be chosen by him.
