looking back
requires focus
remembering
requires thought

I can remember my past
without focusing on it
and sometimes those thoughts
come with tears

but through those tears
God rinses my view
and causes me to see
with my heart

remembering
involves the heart
looking back
involves the eyes

my vision is clearer
when I see with my heart
all that He’s done
all that I am
all that might be

as long as I remember
without focusing
I’ll see clearly
through His loving heart
