I wonder what my writing will be like in Texas: new home; new husband; new feelings; new art.
Month: May 2016
“A Leaking Heart”
in the world of blogging
sometimes it seems pathetic
what I write
people hardly read
people hardly like
but then I remember
I’m writing for me
not for you
“Wife v. Mom”
people wonder if I’m excited
absolutely
but a part of me is sad
for what my kids are enduring
having to choose
between mom or dad
having to leave
the friends they’ve known
having to miss
those last days of school
their little hearts are so stressed
one struggling in school
treading water
one quitting sports
why bother
Carolyn leaving her boyfriend
Nathan missing the dance
and there’s more
so am excited?
yes
does my mommy heart hurt?
yes
will we walk through this together?
absolutely
hopefully
while loving each other
well
“Discovery”
I would never learn
from another woman
on how to be
a wife
I learn from God
“May 25, 2016”
some people only like to read articles
others only like to read poems
both reveal the heart
both let people in
if it’s written in the open
tomorrow my reality becomes real
tomorrow I’ll be married four months
tomorrow I get to see my husband
many of you know
how I fell in love in an instant
with my ex-husband
I flew out to Texas to surprise him
welcomed him into my heart
and we married three days later
he’s on his way to get me
driving from Texas to pick me up
he’ll be here tomorrow
no more waiting
no more missing
no more being-on-hold
my reality becomes real
in a more tangible way
with a hug
with a kiss
with a smile
“Serenity”
tea
my bed
my bible
in Him
hidden
“Rhetorical”
what is ‘being a good parent’?
does it mean
your kids aren’t having sex
does it mean
they never say bad words
does it mean
they never quit at what they do
does it mean
they go to church every week
and read the bible
does it mean
they put others down
who aren’t measuring up
maybe ‘being a good parent’
has nothing to do
with what your kids choose to do
maybe ‘being a good parent’
means you love your kids WELL
through God’s heart
no matter what they do
one question
many answers
“Burning Ones”
WE are flames of glory
as we live our lives
through His heart
having stepped out of darkness
never with it
proclaiming freedom
and sharing the glory
which keeps these flames
burning

A Community Refugee
Every community has different groups of people, and some of these groups of people form their own community. This morning, I’m going to share with you a little bit about the homeless community in Balboa Park.
As most of you know, I have a homeless friend named Lee, whom I met in the park in March of last year. In the time I’ve known him, he’s NEVER called me. Our friendship’s consisted of us spending time together, whenever I had the chance to stop by, and on many of those visits, I’d bring him home with me for days at a time. Well, some have been watching. Continue reading
