there’s so much I want to tell you

you’re the silver lining of the cloud

Healing Truth
As many of you know, yesterday was Katie’s birthday, and I was broke, but I “knew” money wasn’t important in celebrating her, so I had no doubts we would all have fun together, and I had been looking forward to giving her a very special card.
Back in March, I had found this beautiful card with all these red tulips surrounding a beautiful white one. Tulips are my very favorite flower, so this card caught my eye, and having the white tulip amidst the red ones was the picture of me standing in the blood of Jesus, purified, redeemed, restored, so I bought the card to use for my own.
Shortly after, I was scheduled to dance at Beach Chapel for Easter. All my kids went, and I was so excited to dance with God in their presence (for the very first time). After the service, I was going to write about the awe of it all in my special tulip card to remember forever. Well, after the service, all of that changed. Continue reading
“Existence”
it’s not about my name or anyone else’s name
it’s about Jesus
it’s not about pictures on Facebook or friends who hug you
it’s about Jesus
it’s not about your kids, your spouse, your family
it’s about Jesus
it’s not about the makeup you have on or the clothes you wear
it’s about Jesus Continue reading
“I Do”
it’s not about a husband
or how to pay the rent
it’s not about having sex
or being in someone’s arms
it’s not about responsibility
or making someone smile
no
marriage is about Kingdom Living
about releasing the glory of God
it’s about becoming one in Him
becoming love
and changing the world
the need is gone
the want is gone
the desire remains
Swept Off My Feet
Yesterday was full of so much good and then some not so good, and throughout the entire day, God was writing through my heart. Actually, if you ever see me quiet, I’m probably writing on the inside. It happens a lot.
Have you ever been experiencing a difficult time in your life and heard the advice to read through “Job” in the bible? I’ll get back to that.
God had the day pretty well planned out: visit with a friend in the hospital; visit with Lee in the park; meeting a friend at my house; dropping off some paperwork for my son at practice; and then, the evening was open for making flags, so I thought, but after arriving at my sons’ practice, my time for flag making was, immediately, filled. Among the Waves
Yesterday, I met some friends at the beach, and we had a really good time. It’s funny how God works, how He talks, what and who He speaks through. As I was watching the kids in the water, God spoke.

Out in the waves was a daddy with his little girl. He was holding her hand, and every time a wave crashed into them, he would lift her up to keep her head out of water, and as the wave passed, he would hold onto her, so she wouldn’t drift away, and amidst me watching them, God said, “That’s what I do,” and He continued.
“As the waves of life come crashing into you, I hold you by the hand and keep you above water, so you won’t drown, and so you won’t be carried away. I keep your head above the waters.”
It was so general and so personal. I wonder how many things dads do out of “instinct,” all the while prompted by God to reflect His love. It was so amazing.
My kids had so much fun. We stayed from eleven in the morning until five-thirty in the afternoon, which was very unusual for us. We’ve always been the type of family that goes in the water, dries off, and goes home. We never stay very long, but this time, we were all fine with staying. We left so late that we hit traffic, but it didn’t bother us because we had so much fun in the car together. Next time, we’re going on one of Katie’s days off, so she’ll be with us.
Happiness Not Guaranteed
Okay, so I “know” that Disneyland has been known as the-happiest-place-on-earth, but that doesn’t guarantee that the people THERE are the happiest. If there WAS a guarantee, then Scott should get some money back because there were times when moods, attitudes, dirty looks, etc. were transferred amongst the kids. It could’ve been their ages, but I believe the emotions ran deeper than that. Continue reading
A Father’s Presence
Since Scott’s been staying with us, the past few days have been really nice. Kyle and Katie aren’t able to see their daddy that often, so when he comes to town, we make sure to spend as much time together as a family as possible. It is so fun to watch all of them interact, but last night, it was particular fun to listen to Kyle and Katie.
We’re all in the living room/kitchen/dining room area, and Kyle and Katie were closer to the kitchen, chatting, planning, scheming about Disneyland. They’re close anyway, but when their father’s in town, they seem closer, happier, more sure of themselves, and I woke up this morning with a revelation: of course they’re more like themselves; they’re in the presence of their father! And then God began to reveal to me how all HIS kids act, when they’re in His Presence. Continue reading
Language of the Light
I love my kids and the way we love each other. It’s not perfect, but it’s real, and one thing we all care about is where each other is during the night, so we talk through the porch light, which speaks louder than words. Continue reading
