there’re just some things
that hurt my heart
are out of my
control
those moments when
prayers said
seem so
small
and prayers answered
are huge
words
poured out like rain
held inside
every tear
so many struggling
if only I could
help them all
if only I could
support them
it’s hard to keep going
when all seems lost
it’s hard to find value
when you don’t know your worth

God help

to play
to talk
to move
just thinking
about what’s next
not what they’ve done

so as I read

I hear their breathing
of deep sleep
I’ll miss that

different state
different normals
but my excitement
overrides
the missing
I’m so excited
to be in this
new chapter
this new book

love
adventure
discovery
will people miss
the struggling
the loneliness
the barely-making-it
words
there’s no telling
some like to read about
pain
some like to read about
love
