Yesterday, work allowed me to come in late, so I would be able to go to Nathan’s school and watch him be rewarded for his excellence in writing, but little does he know, every time I go to support him, I receive the greatest reward of them all.
As the kids file into the cafeteria, those who are receiving an award usually scan the parents to see if they can find their family member. I always make sure I arrive early enough to be seated, so that when he walks through the door and looks amongst the parents, he’ll find me, and yesterday was no different.
When I share things on here, I always wish you were there with me in my heart to feel what I felt, to see the expression on my face at that moment, to hear my laugh break through the atmosphere. I’m the type of person who cherishes those whom I know and wants everyone I know to meet each other, to hug, to get to know the wonderfulness I see in each person, so pretend you’re at the elementary school in the cafeteria, sitting on one of those cold, metal chairs, watching kids file in the doorway with the sunlight right behind them. Okay, are you ready?

He walked in, looked towards the parents, saw me and smiled the biggest smile ever. THAT’s my reward!!
In those moments, the enemy “used” to remind me of all the years I “wasn’t” there for the other kids, but those memories don’t exist anymore because out of my heart and out of my mouth comes this: “Thank You, God, for waking me up. Thank You for bringing the good mommy out that was in me all along. Thank You for creating in me a new heart, a new life, a new perspective, and a new vision of what I see. You are amazing!”
I love being a mom. I love being a daughter. I love being a sister, a friend. I love being a mother to those who need it. I love being me, and I love becoming love. God watches over me; Holy Spirit guides me; Jesus teaches me how to look like Him. Life is amazing. Breath tastes different. And everybody is worth loving.
