Yesterday, I knew I’d be busy at lunch because Katie and I will running a 5K tonight, and I needed to pick up our packets, so I knew I wouldn’t be in the park. Sometimes, I wonder: if nothing happens in the day, what will I write about. Well, God always has something for me to write about. It’s such a passion of mine and so hard to explain. Those of you who write will understand, but it just so happens that, yesterday, God lined up a few encounters that I wasn’t expecting.
I’ve been attempting to “juice” for a week and wanted to walk to the little market by my work to pick up a juice. On my way, I was having fun with the Holy Spirit, asking Him which way to walk, how fast to walk, etc. I was singing, praying…it was great.
As I neared the market, a man named Milton attempted to walk past me. Our eyes met and we greeted one another, and while his body was still walking in the opposite direction, his eyes were locked on mine and his head kept turning to keep that gaze. I had to stop. I asked him his name, where he worked, if he needed prayer. He said yes, so I prayed for him, and then, he actually prayed for me. I told him every time we see each other, we’ll stop and pray for one another. He liked that.
On my way back from the market, a homeless man named Terrance approached me for some change. I handed him a dollar, and he just stopped…stunned. I asked him his name and why he was homeless. He talked about his life, about a lot of politics, about being considered crazy. He welcomed prayer. After I prayed, we hugged, and as he walked away, he started quoting Scripture. Even HE was surprised. I believe the prayer woke up his soul. It was really neat.
Then, as I turned to walk down the street, I met a man named Humberto who needed change for a dollar. I gave him change and just started praying for him. He was smiling. It was great, and I continued back to work.
I thought, “Wow, God! In just going to the store on a break, you lined up souls to receive your love. How amazing is that!!” He is such an amazing God, the only True God! I love living through His heart. I love becoming love and being present for people. I love the fullness that is felt after meeting people. We have the chance to make earth look like heaven, and I bet the beautiful fragrance of San Diego is stronger in heaven every day!
