A Friend from Heaven

Yesterday was a bit overwhelming at times, so I was so looking forward to stepping away from my desk at lunch time and heading to the park. I really wanted to talk, so I did the usual: text someone to see if they could talk. No one answered but God, the One I should’ve called on in the first place.

As I was looking at my phone, walking towards the park, I heard the faint beat of drums being played. If you know me, you know I love music and love to dance, so I followed this beat, and THAT’s where a friendship was created.

Meet Mike: he was sitting on a bench with two drums that stood in front of him (I’m not sure what they’re called). I motioned in a way to ask if I could join him. He nodded back a yes. I sat, let the day go in my mind and let the music enter my heart. I wished I had grabbed my flags, but then again, if I had, we probably wouldn’t have the opportunity to talk much.

He moved here from Kansas City three weeks ago and lives in San Diego. He likes going to Balboa Park, and yesterday was the day for us to meet. He loves worship, is looking for a church, and would love to hang out with others who love Jesus. And God sent him me. What perfect timing is that!

We chatted, prayed, laughed…it was an amazing way to spend my lunch. God is weaving His tapestry of hearts in San Diego, and Mike is the next piece of yarn. He’s very talented: plays the sax, percussion, and sings. Most definitely, you’ll hear him at a future ONE event, and when that time comes, you won’t want to miss it! It’s so neat that heaven has brought us together. I love witnessing God Love. It’s pretty amazing!
