steering clear of anything

of childhood
of pain

spending time in an antique shop
seeing everything new
of old
remembering those who loved
as they could

tears in my reflection of the glass

seeing
dishes
dolls
metal lunchboxes
a thermus

remembering the good
as a child
never thinking
of anything bad

tempted to regret
all the years wasted
in unforgiveness
but not agreeing
because there’s so much time
ahead
