A couple months ago, a friend told me that her kids wanted to use this…LOLLL: Laugh Out Loud Like Laura. Well, they love my laugh, and the man in this picture does, too, and is one of the best principal’s in the world!
Meet Rick Oser: he’s the principal at the kids elementary and junior high school (Lemon Grove Academy for the Sciences & Humanities). He started his job as principal ten years ago, and since then, there have been remarkable changes…all of them good. I‘ve joked with him before because, this year, I’ll be sober ten years. I say, “I don’t know if it’s because you’ve been principal or I’ve been sober that’s made this school a better place.” He laughs every time and says it’s both.
Well, Nathan only has two more years at the campus, and Rick always comments that, before Nathan graduates eighth grade, he needs to record my laugh. This man is so funny, but apparently, I’m one of the few (if not the only one), who gets his jokes and laughs out loud. He says he’ll miss that.
All joking aside though, when so many schools were laying off teachers, this man was given staff. When so many schools were having programs taken away, this man was given opportunities to make the school a better place. It’s because he makes a difference in each child’s life.
He knows every student’s name and remembers it. He’s written hundreds of grant letters to obtain favor for the school. Because of his heart, the schools are “healthy choice” schools: no junk foods allowed. Although, the kids will sneak them in, but because he’s made these changes and has written letters for grants, he’s been given much. It’s such an honor to know him!
He also likes the fact that we’re “Lighting Up Lemon Grove,” and although, the school has to separate church from school, he’s behind what we’re doing. He wants to see a change, so he changes the world around him, and I’m so thankful that my kids are part of that change!
