there’s no way to shield my kids from the world
but there is a way
to make heaven seem so inviting
that the world doesn’t interest them

there’s a way to teach them goodness
so that when they encounter darkness
it doesn’t appeal to their senses

if I bottled them up
kept them in the house
when God called them to the world
would they be in shock

no, I want to teach them how to live
with the Kingdom inside them
in a world full of darkness
where they get to be Light

never under a table
never hidden away
but out in the open
where their light can be seen
