a simple trip to the grocery store
waiting for the bus
looking at your child smiling back at you
and it hits you
what are we going to do
and the heaviest weight comes upon you
a weight without weight
a weight without breath
a weight too heavy to carry
not having food
not having friends
not having fellowship
washing clothes in the tub
seeing laundry pile up
adding to the weight
buried alive without hope
when the church is unattractive
and one feels safer without
when you trust just a little
and let down your guard
heaven may sneak in
and give you hope
a church without walls
a church inside the heart
a church that values friendship
above legalism
there’s so much love to learn
so much love to receive
so much love to release
in a smile
in a ride
in a laugh
in a hug
in a conversation
showing others the Way
