Since my mom died in April, I haven't gone running, until today.
Oh, don't get me wrong! There've been "many" times I've wanted to run, that I've set my alarm, but when it came down to it, I just couldn't get up, not for that anyway. Well, last night, I voiced to Holy Spirit (again) how I wanted to run in the morning and set my alarm, not really expecting any miracles.
But what if miracles WAIT for us to receive them?
Just as I expected this morning, my alarm went off, and the first thought that entered my mind was, "I don't wanna to go running." Isn't that crazy! I KNOW it's something I love to do, and I KNOW I love the health benefits that come from it, yet my first thought was not wanting to do it, so I just laid there.
Now, I'll tell you something that happened yesterday.
At work, I thought of all the schoolwork ahead of me, not only for this week but also for years to come. For an instance, I was discouraged, but then I thought about how it will feel to retire from doing something I'm so passionate about, and immediately, I was excited for all the work that's to come. Well, I used same thought process this morning.
As I laid in bed, not wanting to get up but wanting to run, I thought about how good it'd feel AFTER I ran. I, absolutely, LOVE how I feel after running, so I got up, got dressed, and ran two miles. Because it'd been SO long since I last jogged, it took more effort than usual, but the outcome was the same: I felt AMAZING! I just have to get out there earlier next time. Even though I ran around 7:30 AM this morning, it was almost eighty degrees with ninety-six percent humidity, which is a little too hot for running in the sun (for me anyway). What I love most about this morning is how it proves, yet again, how God's NOT in control. If He was in control, I would've ran a long time ago. No, I choose what I'm going to do, and when I chose right, I get the blessing that comes with it.
