Recently, I was accused of holding Carolyn and Nathan here against their will. Of course, that’s not true, but instead of wasting my time explaining myself to the few who’ve interfered with my life, I’m going to tell you what’s going on with Carolyn, so you can see for yourself how she’s shined.

At Helix, Carolyn’d struggled in a couple classes and found it difficult to find friends she could trust, but since it was all she knew, she felt she’d miss it, and it didn’t help that in moving to Texas, life’d become difficult, depressing, and boring, but once school started, all that changed.
In itself, the process of registering for this school offered little hope that she’d enjoy it, but as time ticked through the first week of school, she found it wasn’t so bad after all.
She liked (almost) all her teachers and has made some pretty amazing friends. And of course, since it’s high school, she’s also lost some drama-filled friends, but all in all, her confidence has been off the charts and her willingness to adapt…even higher.
During the summer, she went through driving school and received her permit, and since school began, she’s joined two clubs. One is DECA, which is about entrepreneurship, and the other is a law enforcement club.

Through it all, she’s been so focused, and to top it all off, she was invited to her first homecoming dance EVER, which resulted in being asked out, so now, she has a boyfriend.
On purpose, I’m not tagging her because I don’t want to embarrass her anymore than I already do, but I’m just so darn proud of her and want everyone to know!

And with the recent “shift” in our family, I think it’s kind of cool how my middle two children are now the oldest and youngest in our home. Not many middle kids can experience that.
