Divine Friendship

Yesterday was a busy day: emergency room in the morning, lunch in the park with Lee, caring for Nathan, and meeting a friend at UTC mall to catch up a little, but little did we know, our catching up had a purpose in heaven, and the encounter must’ve scared the enemy back to hell.

Chris and I had a plan to meet at the mall to talk about Kingdom living, but what we had planned was totally different than what heaven was brewing. When we searched for a place to sit, the only shaded area was next to a woman, who was about to leave, so we sat next to her (thinking we were taking her spot) and ended up getting to know her for over two hours. It was amazing! Continue reading

Passing the Test

Last week, I had gone to the park to surprise Lee, and boy, was he surprised! As I walked up, he was reading, so his head was down, and when I said my usual, “Hi, Lee!”, his whole body smiled. He was so happy. Well, yesterday, he was surprised with another visit, but this time, Barry went down there, too.

Lunch with “JC”

Do you remember when Lee was pooped on…twice? It cracked me up! It could’ve been when he had asked not to be on Facebook. If that’s the case, let me know, and I’ll post the story. It was hilarious (to me), until “I” was pooped on. Then the funny flew away with the bird. Anyway, during that time, I sort of met Lee’s friend “JC,” and it was not a pleasant meeting. Weather Update

I have always loved the weather…always wanted to experience all four seasons, and I have always appreciated the clouds more than any other characteristic of nature, but ever since I’ve become friends with Lee, I’ve noticed the weather a lot more, and it doesn’t always bring a smile to my face.

The clouds…I absolutely LOVE the clouds. If I had to choose between a sunny day and a grey, cloudy one, I would choose the grey, cloudy one every time. Yesterday, as I was at my desk, I was watching the weather through the window: the trees were dancing in the wind; the clouds were blocking the sun from shining. It was beautiful, so I stepped out onto the balcony and experienced my happiness crash. Continue reading

“A Couch that Speaks”

breathing
peace
sounds from the couch
what’s God doing to my heart

breathing
asleep
restful break from the park
a home to feel comfortable in

breathing
snoring
in clean clothes with a shave
another night spent in warmth

breathing
serenity
being accepted as-is
being loved and spoiled with food

breathing
resting
once a boy, now old man
a son and a father to others

breathing
coughing
life’s taken its toll
health that seems to be weak

breathing
waking
to realize time’s passed
the park awaits his presence

breathing
peace
sounds from the couch
what’s God doing to my heart

Friends, Not Idols

Okay, guess what I did yesterday? I cried, but it was a good thing.

Yesterday morning, as I was packing a lunch for me and possibly Lee, I realized I needed to go shopping, which I did last night, but I totally ended up taking a “snack-lunch” (instead of a “sack” lunch (ha ha)): watermelon, popcorn, chips, pretzels, and hard boiled eggs, but it was so good, and I didn’t have to eat alone. A Few Goodbyes

Yesterday morning, when we were driving towards work, Lee and I were talking about how safe he was…safe in the way that he’s not dangerous…at all. When he was newly homeless, Lee talked about a meek, little lady who offered him a ride, which he accepted. While driving, she made a comment about him not killing her. Lee chuckled and re-assured her she was fine. I told him about my secrecy. Continue reading
