It’s not what you’re thinking.
Yesterday morning, Nathan wanted to take Mentos to school because they’re allowed to eat them during testing, so we stopped at Food4Less to pick some up. Do you ever have trouble deciding what to buy? Nathan was quick about it, but I was in the snack aisle, debating. Later on, I wondered if my debate was all part of God’s plan to put me in the right place at the right time.
As we headed out of the store and approached the car, I noticed a man a spot away from us struggling to get out of his vehicle. I asked him, “Are you okay?” He said, “No. I just had spinal surgery.” (At this point, Nathan got into the car. He KNEW what mommy was going to do.) I said, “Do you want prayer?” He looked at me strange and said, “Huh?” I said, “Can I pray for you?” And started to approach him. He walked toward me and said, “Sure.”
I gently placed my hand at the top of his spine and prayed for maybe a minute: quick and to the point. He turned red and wore the biggest smile. He said, “No one has ever done that for me before. I felt tingly all through my body. It felt good. No one’s ever done that for me before.” He was so happy. I gave him a hug and told him Jesus loved him. His name was Juan.
I started the car and told Nathan about it. He said, “POOP.” I thought he was thinking about the day before, when I was pooped on by a bird. He said, “It’s POOP: People Order Our Prayers.” Ha! My boy is funny!! We were laughing. He was so proud; he even wrote it down, so he wouldn’t forget it.
I love what my kids are learning as normal. I love that, when I’m with him and see someone to pray for, he just calmly waits until I’m done. He’s learning. He’s remembering. God’s molding him. I’m so excited to grow forward and experience all that He’s doing in our lives!
Oh, and the title…at work, a coworker said, “You should have a shirt made up…FREE POOP!” Ha! That definitely wouldn’t fly, but it sure was funny! A few sayings were thought of to go along with Nathan’s POOP acronym.
