Okay, this post will have a little bit about Lee, so I’ll let him know later, and if he minds, I’ll delete it. When I spend time with God in the morning, HE guides me on what to release out of my heart, and this is what He chose, so here we go.
Let me back up a little: on Tuesday, I wore my pair of boots, and Lee and I spoke a couple of sentences about them that seemed to come straight out of the “Forrest Gump” movie.
Lee: “Those are nice boots.”
Me: “My feet hurt.”
Do you remember that part? Anyway, I explained to him how walk on the outside of my feet and showed him how the heal had been worn down, so now, my feet slide to the side every step, which created a blister. Okay, back to where we were.
Yesterday, as I finally reached Lee, he stood up to hug me. He told me how he had been extra eager for my visit. He said he enjoys my visits every day but that he was really looking forward to it yesterday. I’m not sure what had happened to him…only that he said he “needed” the visit. He said he had been watching for me and spotted me by my funny walk (because I walk on the outside of my feet). He mentioned that he knows what to look for now. We sat down to eat and chat.
God had me pack three peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, so Lee would have one for dinner later on. He liked that. As we were talking, some controversial issues came up, where people claim to follow God but don’t live the bible, or how some people live there lives in a way that spits in God’s face, on His word, and then Lee asked me something profound.
He said, “Laura Lee, I’ve been meaning to ask your opinion about that. I know what the bible says, but what do YOU believe.”
Wow! What a question! That led us into talking about America and Israel, the similarities of what’s in the bible and how life’s lived today. It was so interesting, and after I left, his question still swam around in my mind and, apparently, still is. Time always flies by. He walked me to the crosswalk, and we hugged and said good-bye.
On my way back to work, I asked the Holy Spirit which way to walk. I listen to His direction most of the time. This time, it led me to another encounter.
As I was nearing the senior home by my work, an older woman was headed in the same direction. I complimented her beautiful rose dress. She also had on a hot pink overcoat, hot pink hat, and hot pink lipstick…very bright. She was delightful…on her way to play the accordion for the seniors.
On our short walk together, I learned how she loved lavender and how the lavender trees made her so happy. I talked with her about how I dance with flags and the beauty of them…the colors. Her face lit up. She had always wanted to dance, but her father said, “No” and made her learn the piano. She wants to meet up. I love how God loved this woman so much that He had the Holy Spirit take me to her. I can’t wait to spend time with her!
Later on, Lee’s question was still swimming in my mind, and as I watched the American flag wave on top of a nearby building, a poem came from my heart. Yesterday, I spent a good part of the day in tears or teary-eyed because of the road God has me on. I don’t know where it’s going, but the journey is exciting me, and today feels like the beginning of the rest of my life.
