Learning to Dance

Last night, the beauty of JC’s Girls at the Rock was revealed again. Our ministry isn’t only there for those currently in the strip clubs. Our ministry reaches out to all women and men who need to know God loves them right where they’re at. But when you have a past similar to mine, fitting into a church family may be difficult.

I remember the simple act of stopping by 7-Eleven. The music would sound through the speaker, and my body would instantly move, while thoughts of sex would enter my mind. This was very normal to me.

Last night in our group, we were talking about that addiction to dancing…to a lot of things, and one woman shared how she doesn’t dare move to music because she knows where it could take her. Guess what I was able to share with her? …the freedom I have from that and how God’s transformed me.

I told her about being in church, hearing the worship, wanting to move, but thought it was bad, and then, God healed me. Do you know one of the neatest things about that? It was something I had NEVER spoken out loud. No one knew. Of course no one knew. Why would I share that? Then they might look at me as if I was dirty, so I kept it inside and thought it was normal.

IT’S NOT NORMAL!

There’s a beauty in movement, a worship that’s expressed that God understands. God loves worship! Worship doesn’t start when the music begins. Worship starts when you open your eyes. And one of the ways I worship God is through dancing with flags.

I explained to my new friend how God healed me, that when I was given a flag to hold, my instinct was to walk straight to the front, in front of everyone, and dance for Him. I share with her the fire that burned away all the lies I was believing. I told her how I now dance with the worship flags I make, and how it’s pure and pleasing to God. She used a worship flag and loved it!!

So, I’m just going to put it out there: WE NEED GIRLS! At times, no one shows up to JC’s Girls, but clearly, JC’s Girls is needed. If you have a heart for God and want to love through Him with other women, join us! He’s moving, and if He only has one to move through, so be it, but I believe He wants to move through a bunch of us in San Diego and beyond.

Our next study is May 14th at 7 pm in Room 355 at the Rock Church in Point Loma. Hope to see someone there!
