every once in awhile
I get caught in the shadow of time
and listen to lies of who I am
of what will be

darkness looms to grab hold of me
waiting for me to visit the past
and believe that it’s mine
that it still matters

but it doesn’t take long to remember Your Truth
and the redemptive life I breathe
the shadows become light
reflected from Your wing
a silver lining of protection

there’s nothing to regret
it’s been nailed to the cross
there’s nothing to dread
I’ve been freed

a gift worthy to be opened
a plan worth making
a future full of love poured out
a time to be embraced

Hope listens
grace abounds
love covers all
and Truth destroys
the dark shadows of time
