my best isn’t always perfect
sometimes transparency’s best
to know you’re not alone
to know I’m not alone
to give people hope
something to pray about

every once in awhile
I think ‘maybe I write too much’
and in an instant
I reply ‘nah’

poetry is art
poetry is writing
what you feel in your heart
what you think in your mind
what you believe in your core
what you choose to do

I never ask for a grade
never expect one’s approval
I just lay it out there
for all to see
in case it helps someone
who’s waiting to read
