Walking the Streets

Yesterday morning, my friend, Sal, and I met at the Lemon Grove trolley station to see what God had in store for people. It was the second time we’d seen each other, but you would’ve thought we’d known each other for a while because that’s the Kingdom connection we all have in Christ.

When we came together, we were both sharing how we used to “need” outreaches to reach out to people but now, that’s not the case because it’s turned into a lifestyle for each of us. We met to teach another young man how to pray on the streets, but he ended up not coming, so Sal and I decided to change the world without him.

Changing the world doesn’t require the entire world to be changed in one moment. No, changing the world is loving people one at a time, so they encounter God’s love in a way that changes the world around THEM. It’s just so amazing to be alive during this time…so much goodness!!

The first man we sat with had spent over two years in jail, was released on August 4th, and was wearing an electronic ankle bracelet, so authorities could keep track of him. He was staying in a transitional home in La Mesa. He really appreciated our prayers and conversation.

Because his trolley came, our time with him was short, but an impact was made to where I think he’ll keep in touch. I told him about a church in La Mesa, where he could go to fellowship. It was so good to meet him!

Another amazing moment of the morning was sitting and praying with a seventeen year old young man. That moment touched my heart so deeply that I’m not going to share about it but will treasure it in my heart forever.

As Sal and I continued down the street, we encountered a man, whom we sat with for quite awhile. He was sitting on window ledge outside a business, smoking a cigarette. He had amazing eyes, which caught my attention. As we talked with him, we found out he was bipolar, suffered from depression, lost his job, had no friends…health issues, etc.

We prayed with him and talked about the Kingdom inside him. He really heard and understood from Sal. As Sal was explaining to him about the power he possessed because Jesus was in him, he “knew” that the young man was experiencing something in his chest. Sure enough, the guy said it felt like peppermint in there. Holy Spirit was doing some incredible things. I KNOW that that man will never be the same. We pray he seeks God’s heart.

We went a little further and encountered a woman sitting on planter with urine at her feet. We sat with her and told her about her worth and blessed her.

A little farther down, we blessed a man outside one of the businesses and just laughed with him.

As we started to head back towards our cars, we realized, with the amount of people everywhere, we could’ve stayed out there all day, releasing God’s goodness. It was so very amazing, so very good!!

If anyone wants to love on people in Lemon Grove, let me know your schedule, and we’ll make something happen around it.

Oh, on our way back to the car, I realized I didn’t have my glasses, so while I was praying for the blind to see spiritually, I helped someone see clearer in the natural and walked away a little blinder myself. Oh well…no money for new ones, so I just told God to fix my eyes. We’ll see what happens.
